www.elderlinkmetrowest.org Eldercare Services. Jewish Family Service of MetroWest has a dynamic and comprehensive website for its Elderlink program with a grant from The Grotta Fund for Senior Care of the Jewish Community Foundation of MetroWest. Elderlink is an individualized, one-stop connection to eldercare services in the MetroWest community and the new website provides access to a wide range of resources and information for well elderly and adult children of aging parents.
http://www.myjewishlearning.com/ My Jewish Learning, run originally out of Hebrew College in Boston, is, in my opinion, the greatest compendium of Jewish information in English on the web. Not only will you find here background on every holiday, custom and practice but articles about current issues in the Jewish world from the sublime to the ridiculous, Israel info, videos, recipes, quizzes and information for all levels and ages of learners. Definitely one to go on the bookmarks bar!
http://www.babaganewz.com/ This is THE best website for Jewish elementary and middle school children. From articles about a wide range of topics (examples: The Power of Laughter, American Presidents quoting Hebrew Scripture, A Far-Flung Jewish Community Finds Its Way Home) to humor, games, music and videos, babaganewz offers a rich and varied menu of information and entertainment. Very safe and appropriate content.
http://www.aish.com/ The famous Orthodox website that really offers something for everyone and for all ages in a very inclusive and non-preachy way. Want to know about Justin Beiber's Jewish manager? Find cartoons about Purim? Study a bissle (a bit of) Talmud? This is the place.
http://www.g-dcast.com/ Podcast/G-dcast- get it? This short animation about the weekly Torah portion is the best three minute Torah on the web! Don't be fooled by the animation (highly entertaining by the way). The insights in the short films are enlightening and profound and absolutely approriate for all ages: why not have a weekly filming become a part of your family's pre-Shabbat routine?
http://wejew.com/ You know Youtube? This is the Jewish version with shorts, documentaries and yes, entire movies about anything and everything Jewish. A great resource that should be a regular stop on any cybersurfer's rounds- but children viewing should be closely monitored.
http://english.thekotel.org/ A live webcam at Judaism's most sacred site: the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Virtual tours of the famous Kotel tunnels and information about the Kotel available. A powerful place to visit- both in reality and virtually.
http://www.torahtreasure.com/ Got kids? A cute website for young children with videos of stories, songs and skits all with positive and G-rated Jewish content.
http://www.torahtots.com/home.htm A rather wacky and offbeat but still cute and wholesome Jewish children's website featuring games, age-appropriate content about Jewish holidays and practice, coloring pages and puzzles for downloading and printing and more. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for the talking latkes and smiling hamantaschen.
