Temple HaTikvah of Flander's families donned gardening gloves, brandished rakes and spent the afternoon helping senior residents clean up after a long winter. The congregation's "Day of Caring," organized by the Gemilut Chesed Social Action committee, reached out to seniors both in the Jewish communitay and beyond. Event organizer Brenda Kohn partnered with Mount Olive Township’s Director of Senior and Social Services, Diann Brochu, in coordinating the day. Even Temple HaTikvah's Rabbi, Moshe Rudin, took part in hauling brush, raking leaves and moving furniture before joining congregants for an early home-made pizza dinner. Yeshar Ko'ach!
As Hebrew School ends, the Gemilut Chesed committee is winding down for the season. We will kick into action in September when the kids come back to school. Please email your suggestions for Social Action projects to helpinghand@templehatikvahnj.org.
